Chefs and makers around Canberra are letting locals in on all the best recipes and techniques during lockdown so we can recreate dining experiences we are desperately missing at home. Here are a few to try.

Les Bistronomes

Sharing some of the secrets to their most iconic dishes, Les Bistronomes’ take-home packs for two come marinated and prepared with instructions on how to cook and finish off the dishes at home. A pack includes bread and butter, a ready-to-eat entrée and dessert of your choice and for main, a choice of beef Wellington, duck a l’orange or Chateaubriand to finish off yourself. For those with a big appetite there is also the option of add-ons such as beef tartare, venison ravioli and salmon confit, and additional sides such as braised peas and mash potato. To order call them between 9:30am – 2:30pm and before 12pm for same day delivery or pickup. Pick up time is between 4-5pm.

Messina

One good thing that has come out of lockdown is Messina’s absolutely naughty snack packs. Currently their bake-at-home lockdown pack includes two desserts, designed to be eaten together. First, bake a sticky brioche snail filled with caramel custard, choc chips and covered in gooey malt caramel. Then once cooked, scoop copious amounts of layered vanilla custard gelato and cheesecake mouse and crumble on top. These often sell out, so if you missed out this time keep up to date on their socials for their next snack pack edition. Available to order online for pickup.
