On Wednesday, 8th July, AIS Arena was transformed into a grooving, shaking, krumping and twirling arena – where SYTYCD’s Top 10 took to the stage.
SYTYCD opened with the judges projected onto a large screen, looking at SYTYCD 2009 in retrospect.
But once the show started, there was no Bonnie Lythgoe in sight, nor was Ms Bassingthwaite present to host the show.
These ‘now’ celebrities were left to flex their newly acquired performance skills; hosting and presenting the entire show.
While the vast majority of the top 10 should stick to their dancing day jobs, Timmomatic and Amy thrived, and for a moment it didn’t feel like an overly scripted kid’s show.
The dancing was of course, the highlight with the Top 10 delighting the audiences with their famous routines from the hit series, with a few newbies to keep fans on their toes.
The highlight performance was hands down Timmomatic. The reception for this Canberra dancer was remarkable – with a large group of friends in the audience turning out to cheer on their celerity friend.
A fun, booty-shaking skit was also a highlight, with Afro/Samba dancer, Gianne teaching BJ, Timmomaic and Loredo to shake their bee-hinds.
