Looking for a new place to kick back and keep warm this winter? How about heading to Kingston to experience the new Supper Club for a late night drink? Open Wednesday, Thursday and Sunday till 3am and Friday and Saturday as late as 5am, the Supper Club bustles with great tapas, wine and cocktails all night long.
A familiar brand around other capital cities of the world, particularly in Europe, Michael Harrington and Grant Macara have finally brought the concept of ‘supper’ to Canberra. As major contributors to the local hospitality scene, both men know what’s what.
“The Supper Club caters for everyone. It’s a new niche for the older crowd… after they go for dinner if they don’t want to go to a nightclub where the music is blaring, they can come here,” Michael said.
Suitable for intimate functions away from the bustle of the streets, the late night venue has an extensive wine list to offer customers, as well as a variety of tasty tapas choices to share, and an extensive list of cocktails.
“Grant is the cocktail barman and we go to the market each week to source interesting seasonal ingredients. We are also changing it regularly, but are happy to offer any classics to anyone who wants one.”
A completely new concept to Canberra, the team at the Supper Club are also promoting themselves as ambassadors for local and regional wine and produce.
“Our wine list is pretty unique, it’s a good mix of about a third local Canberra and Canberra region wines, and then a third from the rest of Australia, and a good selection of international wines as well. Grant and I have both had extensive wine training, so we know what’s around and it’s good to support local business.”
The best words to describe the late night venue? Relaxed with genuine hospitality and a cosy atmosphere – a definite must try for those looking for something different to Canberra’s typical late night offerings.
