If you’re into the local live music scene, then Georgefest is where you want to spend your Saturday afternoon.
The summer music festival is being held in the grassy amphitheatre of The George, on Saturday 6th December, and will feature some of Canberra and Sydney’s finest talent.
Now in its second year, the event has had a name change and the outdoor stage is being set for a great night of fun, fresh air and funky music…and it’s all free!
“We’re doing this to give something back to the community as a bit of a Christmas present,” said Gil Miller, The Publican.
The line up will be even bigger and better than the last, starting on Saturday afternoon at 3pm with each band playing an enjoyable 90 minute segment, and entertainment kicking on till midnight.
Headlining the event is Sydney band King Farook, who have been described as a funky mix of urban, dance and rock, and are sure to get you grooving.
Also taking to the stage will be rhythm and blues trio Finn, who have made several appearances at the George in the past, making themselves a wide Canberra fan base.
“These guys are old rockers and they really pump out some sounds, they’re great.”
Georgefest will also feature the smooth sounds of Ashleigh Mannix, impressive Canberra group Annie & the Armadillos and rocker Dan England, a 2005 idol finalist, with his band the Thieves.
“There will be extra outdoor bars this year with Bundy and Guinness girls helping with promotional activities – and if the feedback from last year is anything to go by, this year will be a great day and night of fun and music for everyone.”
It is expected that Georgefest will draw an audience of up to 1000 and with free entry, an impressive mix of musical talent, and such a nice chilled out atmosphere, it’s sure to be a crowd pleaser.
