Lerida Estate is the Wine Partner of the Canberra Symphony Orchestra, and as part of the Fireside Festival, will be hosting five concerts in their Barrel Room featuring Canberra Symphony Orchestra musicians.
Before the concerts guests can enjoy lunch at Café Lerida which serves delicious locally sourced seasonal food. Also on show will be the Champion 2006 Shiraz Viognier, and award winning Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and Pinot Gris.
During intervals guest are invited to sample scrumptious canapés matched with Lerida Estate wine.
At the end of the concerts, guests will enjoy Lerida Estate’s creamy hot chocolate, Jim’s mulled wine, tea or coffee, with roasted chestnuts and Petit Fours.
Guests will also have the opportunity to and mix and mingle with the musicians after the concerts.
The first concert on Saturday 2 August 2008 will feature Con Trio (Timothy Wickham, Liam Morrissey and Sally Greenaway). Con Trio will will perform award winning original works, as well as a familiar selection of light jazz and classical chamber music.
On Saturday 9 August 2008, the second concert will be presented by Trio Tamburlaine (Philippa Thompson, Ewan Foster, Shahn Paterson). Trio Tamburlaine’s performance will include a range of Haydn’s late trios, and some of the more tempestuous works of Ludwig van Beethoven.
The dynamic Wicked Strings Quartet will play the third concert on Saturday 16 August 2008. In addition to classical favourites, the Wicked Strings Quartet are set to dazzle audiences with an eclectic repertoire of popular Latin American grooves and rock favourites from the 60’s and 70’s.
The fourth concert on Saturday 23 August 2008, takes the shape of a Café Jazz Soiree which is sure to entertain and delight. Violinist Timothy Wickham and friends, and award winning Canberra pianist and composer Sally Greenaway will present an appetising collection of light jazz and café favourites from Gershwin, Porter and Piazzolla and pieces from the French film Amélie.
The final concert on Saturday 30 August 2008, sees an encore from Trio Tamburlaine and will be a fitting end to a wonderful festival of fine wine, food and music.
