Lonsdale Street is rarely short of a cool event to attend or new eatery to try, but this week it’s amped up its entertainment – sure to draw a crowd.
FOR THE ARTY-FARTY
Emerging creatives have taken over 11 Lonsdale Street, setting up a pop-up gallery in an abandoned old bottle shop until the end of April. Degenerate & Six offers a rotating list of local artists a temporary studio / exhibition space to host their art.
“During the day, it’s a visual arts gallery. But in the evenings this month we’ll be exhibiting local poets and musicians as well at events inside the gallery. Canberra has a really great arts scene, and there are a lot of young, local artists who are brimming with enthusiasm and ideas and talent and it’s really important to give these creatives a space to be seen,” said Creative Producer of Degenerate & Six, Tegan Garnett (pictured).
In collaboration with local Canberra Arts individuals and groups such as Molasses Radio, Good Content, BAND!SLAM!NO!BISCUIT, and UGH! Degenerate & Six will be using their time on Lonsdale to entertain a poetry night, independent film night, and closing party.
A FALL OF FASHION
In celebration of keeping Canberra well-dressed for the past three years, fashion guru Alicia Xyraki from Rebel Muse has joined forces with beauty queen Sarah-Jane Wright from the Capital’s first blowdry beauty bar, Saloon to bring Lonsdale street Autonomy
The duo are dubbing it a night of fashion, beauty and mischief, with the main event being a red carpet runway show on Lonsdale street thanks to Devojka modelling agency.
“Being business neighbours and in industries that work so closely together, it just made sense for Sarah and me to collaborate on an event,” said Alicia. “Plus, Saloon is such an awesome space, I mean they have a bar.”
Rebel Muse, Canberra’s premier fashion boutique will be bringing you all the latest Autumn/Winter trends from Australia’s top designers including Camilla and Marc, Alice McCall, By Johnny, Acler, PE Nation and many more.
Sarah is a makeup artist and hair stylist with an impressive portfolio in TV, film and editorial and will be styling the hair and makeup looks presented on the runway. The looks will be available to shop straight after the show at the pop up shop inside Saloon alongside their full-service bar.
Beats from DJ’s Hamish Lardi & Ruben, free makeup touch-ups, and woodfired pizza by Pizza Artigiana will add to their superb night Friday night
