Toboggans are now prohibited at Thredbo.
A statement on Thredbo’s website said the use of toboggans and miscellaneous snow sliding equipment associated with Snow Play is now prohibited.
The statement said the move is “to maximise safety for guests, employees, and resort property”.
While Thredbo acknowledges tobogganing as a favourite winter pastime, the trend of toboggans on ski runs increases the risk of collisions with skiers and other sleds, loss of control and collision with natural and man-made objects.
The prohibition includes any area under the ownership or control of Thredbo and applies to all members of the public, staff, sublessees and volunteers.
Snow season starts in just over a week.
