It seems to pop up every year or so without much warning but provides one of the musical highlights of the Canberra calendar; an O Week gig or festival at the ANU. It also seems to change names each time, which is probably another reason why it’s one of our best kept secrets. This year we’re giving you the scope a bit earlier so you don’t miss out on the chance to catch a top line-up of Australian music here in our city.
Titled Euphoria: Friday Night Party, this year’s festival brings a small swag of artists that includes headliners Hockey Dad and Middle Kids, who between them racked up 4 songs in this year’s Hottest 100 (Hockey Dad scoring 3, including ‘Join The Club’ at number 18). Joining them are other Triple J artists Touch Sensitive, Sampa The Great, Kira Puru (who also scored a spot in this years 100) and Birdz, with more acts still to be announced.
Returning again to Fellows oval, the last event like this I attended at the same location was Purple Haze back in 2015’s O Week. Similarly, it had a stellar line-up of Triple J faves and up and comers from back then such as British India, Allday, Art vs Science and our very own SAFIA, who went on from this to have songs in the next 3 consecutive Hottest 100’s. I throw this in here as the evidence for just how massive these line-ups can become in the years after the event, and as your warning to grab your tickets and experience one of Canberra’s top mini music festivals.
In addition to the ANU Students Association, this year Euphoria is brought to us by Yours and Owls who have been bringing an awesome array of artists to our town via MOLO Live at ANU since it opened mid 2017.
Tickets are $55.00 for the general public, and $35 for ANU students and are available now via Moshtix.
