The OutInCanberra People’s Choice Awards were officially launched today in Garema Square, with Minister for Tourism, Andrew Barr MLA and Canberra’s hospitality industry in tow.
The pursuit is now on for Canberra’s favourite venues – with ‘Favourite Café’ added to the long-standing categories ‘Favourite Restaurant’ and ‘Favourite Nightlife Venue.’
Barr announced voting open and cast his own vote in the OutInCanberra voting booth.
Last year’s OutInCanberra People’s Choice Award winners, ‘Favourite Nightlife Venue’ Sub-Urban and ‘Favourite Restaurant’ Ellacure were also present.
Running as part of the 2010 AHA Hospitality Awards, The OutInCanberra People’s Choice Award has been recognised as the first local award of its kind, giving Canberrans an exciting opportunity to have their say and make a positive impact on their favourite local hospitality venues.
More than 20,000 votes were cast in 2009, a voting increase of 52% on the previous year.
The Canberra public has the opportunity to vote for any hospitality venue in Canberra and surrounding regions, regardless of size.
Voting is open NOW and will close at 5pm, Friday 16 July 2010.
TOP 5 from each category will be announced at 9am, Tuesday 8 June 2010 with the winners crowned at the 2010 AHA Hospitality Awards on Monday 19 July 2010.
