Canberra’s local identities put their reputations on the line today, as they created culinary history with their very own specialty hot dog recipes for RSPCA.

NSW State of Origin representative, Tom Learoyd-Lahrs led the CFMEU Canberra Raiders’ contingent against the likes of Canberra United coach Ray Junna and players Caitlin Munoz and Snez Veljanovska.

“If you can’t stand the heat, stay out of the kitchen,” was the blunt message issued by NRL CEO David Gallop.

FM 104.7’s Scotty and Nige rose to the challenge with their double cheese and bacon hotdog, the ‘GIGANTOR.’

Canberra Times Food and Wine journalist Bill Maloney was also on hand to provide insight into the masterpieces being prepared.

The event took place at the brand new Bluey’s Café located inside the Dickson Tradies, and was in part a fundraiser for the RSPCA.

Bluey’s customers will have until the end of August to vote for the best hot dog to go on the Specials Menu throughout September. The Tradies will then donate $1 to the RSPCA for each of these sold.
