Once again, the prestigious Australian Hotels Association National Awards for Excellence were announced for 2022.
Among those honoured was Soumi Tannous, owner of Canberra’s favourite Middle Eastern restaurant and nightlife venue Bar Beirut. Awarded the Front of House Employee of the Year, it probably won’t come as a shock to those who have had the pleasure of dining at Bar Beirut.
Born in Lebanon, Soumi’s journey in Hospitality in Australia first saw him work as a bartender in the Riverina before moving to Canberra.
Passionate about what he does, you’ll almost certainly find Soumi behind the bar shaking his famous cocktails or ensuring your table is looked after.
With the hospitality finally getting its groove back, the 2022 AHA National Awards for Excellence marked a wonderful start to summer, free of restrictions.
“Nothing compares to the atmosphere, the noise and the sheer joy of being out in a lively pub full of good people, good food and great drinks. Today’s winners are proof that here in Australia we have the best hotel and accommodation venues, operators and staff in the world,” said AHA National President, David Canny.
Joining Soumi’s win, ACT’s Hotel Realm also took home the award for Best Meeting and Events Venue.
