It’s about time we did one of these, right? As requested by so many of you, here’s our newest round-up of the latest and greatest dining venues to try in Canberra.

Such and Such

The team behind one of Canberra’s most acclaimed restaurants, Pilot, opened a new modern eatery in Constitution Place late last year and it’s got everyone eager to get their taste. Such and Such is an all-day restaurant with a strong focus on wine, and a place intended for both a drop-in for a glass of wine and snack or for a laid-back lunch or dinner. Think oysters, burnt shallot bucatini, whole flathead with tartare, duck with plum sauce and a choc cherry cake.

Margot Bar

Margot Bar, a new and very cute Parisian-feeling open-air bar is now serving your morning coffee and arvo wine along Lake Burley Griffin. The new kiosk serves high-quality espresso and baked goods for those morning walkers, followed by a carefully selected list of French, Canberra region and regional NSW wines perfectly paired with premium cheeses in the afternoon.

WineRoom

A charming bar stacking a rotating selection of wine, elevated afternoon nibbles and a simple (yet flavour-packed) modern menu, WineRoom is here for your lazy afternoon wine and cheese, Friday night drinks and intimate dinner. Just after snacks? Think a cheese and charcuterie selection and elevated nibbles such as oysters with yuzu granita and snapper with finger lime. Or stay a little longer and enjoy the likes of octopus with black garlic and nduja or Murray cod with melon myrtle.

The Shaking Hand

Named affectionately from the lyrics of the AC/DC song ‘Let There Be Rock’, The Shaking Hand aka Shakes is Canberra’s newest dive bar showcasing local and international live music, DJs, late-night rock and roll, fast drinks and pizza. The bar specialises in pizzas for just $5 a slice or $16 per pie, as well as batched cocktails, local craft beer, natural wines and delicious frozen margaritas.

Luna

Situated inside the historic Sydney Building, Luna features an elevated street food menu, combining Asian and Australian cuisine, with a heavy focus on cocktails. Stand-out dishes include the prawn and crab roll featuring pan de leche, spanner crab, tiger prawns and kewpie, duck tacos with cherries and goat cheese, as well as the Riz au-lait rice pudding.

Hello Harry

Known for its generously loaded, locally sourced and fresh burgers, Hello Harry prides itself on being a house-made restaurant, with all sauces, marinades and seasonings made in-store. The menu boasts a great range of burgers including plant-based and gluten-free, with crowd favourites being the maple bacon beef burger and the southern fried chicken burger.

Future Swirl

Australia’s first handcrafted oat milk soft serve, Canberra’s newest food truck on Lonsdale Street, Future Swirl is finally curing those ice cream cravings for those who opt for plant-based milk. Made with organic Australian oats, flavours are kept simple with vanilla or chocolate but can be elevated with deliciously naughty toppings and your choice of cup or cone.

Broger

When you need to fuel your UNI brain, Broger at Kambri ANU will get you through your assignment! Serving a huge range of mouth-watering beef, chicken, vego and vegan burgers as well as pizza, hot dogs, loaded fries and cocktails, they know just what you’ve been craving.
