Not sure about you, but doesn’t a cold, crisp beer just taste that much better when you know it’s brewed right here in the capital? Pushing the boundaries on new and old recipes, and producing award-winning beers, here are our favourite breweries in Canberra.

Capital Brewing Co.

Starting out by introducing the best craft beer in Australia to Canberrans in a small pub, owners of Capital Brewing Co decided to brew their own ‘good-natured brews’ and opened a brewery in Fyshwick. Since then, they have worked hard to create beers out of fresh, natural ingredients that minimise their impact on the environment where possible, becoming Australia’s first Climate Active certified 100% carbon neutral brewery. If you’re visiting their taproom, enjoy beer tastings of their core range as well as special and seasonal releases with a burger from Canberra’s favourite Brodburger food truck. Most recently acquiring Batlow Cider, if you’re not a fan of beer, get a crisp apple cider on tap.

BentSpoke Brewing Co.

An award-winning local Canberra brewery, BentSpoke Brewing Co sits in the heart of the city. Brewing their core range and limited releases on site at the BewPub, try their famous IPA ‘Crankshaft’ among with 25 different draught beers, cider and two hand-pumped beers. Creating boundary-pushing flavours, enjoy the ultimate brewery experience alongside a classic pub menu.

Cypher Brewing Co.

Born from a love of producing (and drinking) home brews, Cypher Brewing Co. is Gungahlin’s first and only brewery. Run by a team of locals who are committed to creating great beer by pushing the boundaries, having fun, and working around the preference of customers, they have 12 taps pouring a range of their own beers including ales, lagers, malts, and hops. Accompanying and elevating the beers is a pub-style menu and regular live music.

Zierholz Premium Brewery

Canberra’s first regional-scale microbrewery, Zierholz Premium Brewery creates local brews using traditional German-inspired methods. A family business bringing a slice of their heritage to Canberra, join them at their taproom in Fyshwick or catch their food truck popping up around Canberra serving their beers alongside delicious German food.
