You may have heard the news that our nation’s capital city is officially getting its own Canberra MONOPOLY board as early as next March. No doubt childhood memories resurfaced… the nostalgia of sibling rivalries ignited over who would claim the iconic thimble or the regal top hat. Friendships tested and bonds forged over sneaky attempts to swipe a few extra dollars from the bank.
The timeless board game returns to our lives, only this time with a local lens. And, who better than locals to help curate the board?
Canberrans will have a say in what they would like to see on their edition of the famous board game via the official Canberra MONOPOLY Facebook Page. The edition will see locally themed squares replace Mayfair and Park Lane from the original London MONOPOLY board and include a customised ‘Community Chest’ and ‘Chance’ playing cards, immortalising all that is spectacular about Canberra.
From local institutions like The National Gallery and National Museum of Australia, to landmarks like Lake Burley Griffin and Mount Stromlo, right down to our go-to venues for coffee or snitty. If they have contributed to local culture, each of your fave haunts have the chance to make it on board.
