The crème de la crème of winter festivities, Xmas in July is back and better than ever! We’re talking four days of French-European food, melted cheese, mulled wine, artisan creations, fire pits, live entertainment, all the jolly vibes you could possibly ask for and more. Once again taking over Parkes Place Lawns in the middle of the National Triangle, the festival will run from 27-30 June.
In the tradition of Europe’s most beautiful Christmas markets, Xmas in July offers an array of artisanal products, delicious comfort foods (yes raclette is back on the menu), wooden huts, and magical Christmas props and fairy lights. With over 40 pop-up restaurants showcasing the finest French and European cuisine, get the best winter warmers including melted cheese stations, German hot dogs, mulled wine and hot chocolate bars, crepes and more.
Returning with some new additions, try foods including a peanut butter hot whiskey drink and a truffle sausage pop-up restaurant from the culinary team from Canberra’s Crowne Plaza. All-you-can-eat crepes will also be apart of the new lineup, where you can discover authentic Brittany crepes through a range of ticketed experiences. These include a crepe party with a build-your-own station, a sweet and savoury a la carte crepe menu with a bottle of cider, and a crepe brunch experience.
“We spent hours with the team working on bringing not only authentic recipes but re-creating the unique atmosphere of an authentic creperie. The Crepe Party is something we do at home with friends & Family and it’s going to be fun to see people experiencing it in this unique setting we are creating,” says Festival Director, Vincent Hernandez.
“In France, Christmas is all about embracing winter, feasting together, enjoying warm comfort food, delicious drinks & music surrounded by beautiful lights. It’s amazing to see how the Xmas in July brings everyone together in the middle of winter to do just that in Australia.”
While food may be the major draw card for us, the festival entertainment will also spark joy throughout the crowd, with 15 live concerts and performances from local artists. The snow lane, Fire Pit Garden experience and kilometres of fairy lights will also return, hosting one-of-a-kind artisanal creations.
