Most households would agree they have a Donna Hay cookbook that they either swear by or revisit from time to time. So, if you’ve ever wanted to know first-hand from the Aussie icon herself, the tips and tricks she swears by, then this new festival is for you.
Held in Milton and Mollymook on the South Coast from 6-22 September, the Meet the Makers Festival invites you to join local makers in ‘behind the scenes’ immersive experiences across multiple venues.
Kicking off on Friday 6 September at 6pm with a collaboration dinner at Alter Wine Bar, Milk HAUS’s Nat Taylor and the very special guest food author, stylist and Australian cooking icon, Donna Hay, will cook a menu inspired by Donna’s upcoming cookbook Too Easy.
Having spent many of her childhood holidays along the coast, Donna has many nostalgic ties to the area and the produce it cultivates.
“My passion for seasonal fresh ingredients and simple living is certainly no secret. The NSW South Coast offers this and so much more. I have wonderful memories of this area and am so inspired by the fabulous food and artisan culture. I am truly excited to be part of this unique event,” she says.
Following the highly anticipated dinner, the festival will host a range of events across the foodie space and beyond. This will include throwing mud and creating ceramics with Motion Ceramics, Arranging the perfect table setting with FRED Flowers, exploring an organic pig farm and a Martins Ridge Farm smallgoods tasting, creating your own wine flavour profile at Cupitt’s Estate, and learning tips for clever entertaining with Bake Club.
“This Festival gives people an opportunity to experience another side of the community, where you get to be part of our town and live like a local,” says Committee Member of Meet the Makers Festival, Katie Stidwill.
