It’s the start of a new year, but we’re all still in silly season. The warm weather tends to bring us all out of home for arvos of eating and drinking, so naturally, a bunch of foodie collabs, pop-ups and takeovers are happening around the city at some of your favourite venues. Here’s some to check out.

Monster x Bridge Road Brewers – Thursday 30 January

A monstrous burger night. Join Monster and Beechworth’s Bridge Road Brewers for a two-hour burger and beer experience in the Monster Secret Garden. Taking care of the food, choose from a cheeseburger, chicken katsu burger or veggie burger with fries, croquetas and salad from Monster. Meanwhile, Bridge Road will sort out drinks with unlimited beers to sweeten the deal.

Ak’s Diner x XO pop-up – Saturday 1 February 

When two former XO greats join forces for a night, can you guess what will be on the menu? Back due to very popular demand, ex XO chef AK Ramakrishna and former Co-Owner Kent Nhan are uniting at AK’s new lunchtime watering hole, AK’s Diner, to cook up their cult classic – Asian bolognese. Starting from 5:30pm on Saturday 1 February, come down and re-live the XO glory days.

Paranormal Wines 4th Birthday – Sunday 2 February  

Paranormal Wines is four! And to celebrate, they’re bringing in their friends from Bar Rochford for a party on Sunday 2 February, from 1pm. Featuring lobster and pork rolls, shoestring fries, ice sundaes, mini martinis and of course, plenty of wine, grab a table or spill out onto the lawns for an epic Sunday arvo sesh.

Maybe Sammy x Leyla bar Takeover – Thursday 6 February

Sydney’s award-winning bar Maybe Sammy is heading south to Canberra for the first time ever, collabing with rooftop fave, Leyla Bar. Ranked number 26 in the World’s 50 Best Bars, Maybe Sammy is renowned as one of Australia’s most innovative and awarded cocktail bars and promises an unforgettable cocktail experience for one night only.

Cypher Brewing Co. native ginger beer release – Friday 7 to Sunday 9 February

In celebration of Canberra’s upcoming Multicultural Festival, Gungahlin’s Cypher Brewing Co. has announced it will launch the exclusive release of a native ginger beer. Bringing together Australian Indigenous heritage and global beer traditions, YUMA! is a unique collaboration of flavours inspired by the Australian landscape and indigenous culture. To try this whole-hearted Aussie ginger beer yourself, you’ll have to head to the Multicultural Festival from 7-9 February as it will be exclusive to the festival.

After Service x Onzieme Pop-up – Sunday 23 February

Your favourite hospo pop-up crew is back for the year! While the specific deets are yet to be revealed, After Service will be taking over Onzieme on Sunday 23 February for an arvo (and night) of summer hits. Think hot snacks, cold drinks and plenty of good vibes.

Hyatt Hotel Twilight in the Gardens – Every Friday

Re-living the glory days of Fridays at the Hyatt, the hotel is starting up arvos in the gardens again. Every week from 4pm, enjoy live acoustics, a Chandon pop-up bar, a gourmet live grill and $12 boutique beers, $13 wines and $15 cocktails until 6pm.
