Andre’s Osteria, a brand-new Mediterranean dining spot and wine bar, is opening its doors this Friday, 7 March.
Taking over the beloved My’s Vietnamese space, the restaurant has been completely transformed, bringing together rustic charm, bold flavours, and an inviting atmosphere that’s perfect for Canberra’s cooler months. Think warm wooden accents, gorgeous olive-green tiles, and a menu that’s all about fresh, seasonal ingredients.
Behind this venture is Andre Wilks, a 29-year-old hospitality pro who’s been managing some of Canberra’s favourite eateries for over a decade. Working alongside his dad, Bruce, who brings a military-level attention to detail, together they have created something that’s sure to be your new neighbourhood gem for everything from casual catch-ups to special celebrations.
The menu is inspired by the Mediterranean and a key feature is the delicious handmade pasta to create standout dishes like Mafaldine paired with a rich Cowra lamb shoulder ragu and Wagyu Beef Lasagne with bechamel.
“The menu will change seasonally, based on the best produce available, including the herbs and leafy greens grown in my Dad’s vegetable garden.”, says Andre.
And for drinks? Expect a wine selection featuring everything from local gems like Lark Hill Riesling to unique international picks like Nero d’Avola and Malbec. Beer lovers can enjoy the Italian classic Birra Moretti or the exclusive Andre’s x Bridgeroad Mediterranean Ale, both on tap.
For Andre, this restaurant is more than just a business. Growing up with a deep love for food, inspired by his late mother, he always knew he’d open his own spot one day. And when the My’s space became available just around the corner from his home, it felt like fate. Today, a portrait of Pierrelaine greets guests at the entrance, a reminder of the love and passion poured into every dish.
“This is a place for the community to come together and enjoy simple, beautiful food,” says Andre. “It’s a tribute to my mother, and I can’t wait to share it with our neighbourhood.”, says Andre.
Andre’s Osteria opens this Friday at 35 Brierly Street, Weston Creek, serving lunch and dinner from Wednesday to Sunday.
