Calling on all Canberrans to get active for just 30 minutes, Belgravia Leisure is offering free access to their fitness facilities as part of an initiative to reach 15,000 active minutes in one day.

On Saturday 29 March, Stromlo Leisure Centre, Lakeside Leisure Centre and Canberra Olympic Pool will open their doors as part of the Move It Canberra Challenge. With a range of free group fitness sessions and general access to the pool or gym, Canberrans are encouraged to try a new form of movement. Group classes range from yoga, HIIT, aqua aerobics and Les Mills dance.

“I encourage everyone, whether you’re a member or not, to join us, try something new, and perhaps discover a new favourite activity. It’s going to be a day full of fun, accessible to all ages and abilities, and a great opportunity to connect with your community,” says Belgravia Leisure CEO, Nick Cox.

Encouraging the community to prioritise health and fitness, on not just one day but integrated into daily life, proceeds from the event will support local community initiatives through the Belgravia Foundation. A charity aiming to create greater access to sport, aquatic, fitness, recreation and health programs, Belgravia’s goal is to enhance the well-being of our community.

“The Move It Canberra Challenge is not just about getting active; it’s a call to unite as a community and support each other. Every minute of activity contributes to our collective goal and directly benefits local initiatives aimed at improving the quality of life for all Canberrans. We invite everyone to join us on March 29 to move together and make a lasting impact,” says Belgravia Leisure Business Operations Manager for ACT, Mat Pole.

So, whether you choose to jump, squat, stretch or make a splash, get your daily 30 minutes in and help Canberra reach 15,000 active minutes!
