An undeniable icon of our capital city, where memories have been made over a champagne high tea, a magical wedding of a loved one, and a luxurious weekend away, Hyatt Hotel Canberra has been 100 years in the making, and it’s time to celebrate.

To mark the launch of its Centenary of Style, the hotel has announced it will be hosting a cocktail gala event. Think aristocratic manor home meets luxe 1920s cocktail lounge (thanks to the styling of Show Pony Events).

Held on Friday 25 October, it is expected to be nothing short of glamourous, filled with champagne toasts, pop-up cocktail bars, entertainment, immersive activations, and gourmet cuisine.

To begin the evening, guests will be welcomed with trays of Taittinger champagne and a jazz trio before a range of captivating experiences take over the night including a spectacular 10-tier champagne tower performance by Couture Air.

“As the evening progresses, guests will be able to choose their own adventure, with the heritage section of the hotel transformed into a glamorous array of unique experiences that pay homage to the hotel’s rich past,” says General Manager, Adam Myott.

Stepping back in time to the hotel’s grand opening, the lounge areas will transform back to the 20s with a whiskey Speakeasy Bar and a luxurious Parlour Room. Utilising local producers, they have called upon The Canberra Distillery to host a pop-up Martini Bar, as well as a BentSpoke Beer Garden, and Bellinis under the stars thanks to Wildbrumby Distillery.

Revisiting some of their most celebrated guests, there will also be a nod to those who have shaped the hotel’s rich history.

“Sir Robert Menzies was one of our most distinguished guests and we know he loved a classic dry martini at Hotel Canberra, and so naturally, a classic ‘Menzies Martini’ will feature on the night,” says Myott.

In true Hyatt style, their famous seafood buffet will be on the menu, with a live oyster-shucking station, fresh seafood and a selection of live-food stations, canapés, and decadent desserts.

Dancing will of course also be on the cards, with the Baker Boys Band setting the scene in the old Oak Room or maybe acoustic under the twinkle of fairy lights is more your scene in the Rose Courtyard.

Tickets for the evening will be inclusive of a three-hour food and beverage package including canapés, food stations, cocktail bars, beer, wine, and bubbles, as well as entertainment and interactive experiences throughout the night.

Pulling out all the stops, every guest, old and new, is invited to dress up and toast to the start of the party season and Hyatt Hotel Canberra’s centenary of style! It’s not every day you can sip martinis under the glimmer of chandeliers or a Manhattan cocktail in Canberra’s oldest hotel.

Tickets are now on sale.
