Andie Meredith graduated Fashion Design at CIT in 2008 and has since worked hard to create a polished collection, launching her label a n d i e into the Canberra market shortly after graduating.

A n d i e stands out for its feminine and soft design, with a colour palette that offers a sense of timeless versatility. The design process behind each garment is driven by an inquiry of art, fashion, life experiences and reflection.

What do you think of the Canberra fashion scene?

“Tricky question! I think wherever you are In the world today it’s really interesting to notice these sub cultures that develop within and I think if you look around, Canberra certainly has that. I think at the moment we are surrounded by a sense of pop and I guess what is ‘trendy’ in the very now.”

Compared to other local designers, what do you do differently?

I focus on creating an opportunity for the wearer to have that personal connection with a garment. There is an emphasis on consideration of the wearer and their lifestyle demands… I like to take a refreshing approach towards society today, using quality fabrics, signature surface prints; silhouette and texture, creating an expression of the self.

What project are you currently working on?

Production of 2010 Transeasonal Collection, together with preparation of ‘a n d i e in Autumn’ 2010.

What are your label plans for the near and distant future?

The focus is to develop the label, its process and listen to the market.
