Armed with nothing more than a scalpel, sheet of acetate, a can of spray paint and a battalion of patience, notorious stencil artist E.L.K. spends his time in his dimly lit studio creating his latest piece – a monkey’s head topped with a crown thorns for his first ever solo exhibition. Layer after layer is meticulously cut with German engineering precision, then laid onto art board, sprayed, next layer cut, then sprayed, then cut again. This is the laborious process of stencil art. This is the work of E.L.K.

Their Young Blood debut at Academy Nightclub on the 28th May was a big success, so the duK have been invited back for a headline set featuring Raw City Rukus and special guests Offtapia, Bricksta, Solsta and Sean Kelly this Friday 2 July, 9.00pm.

Miss Kitka’s House of Burlesque presents Bootscootin’ Burlesque: The Sheriff’s Daughter, a gyrating extravaganza set in the wild, wild west.

This event runs from 7.00pm – 11.45pm on Saturday 24 July and 6.30pm – 10.00pm Sunday 25 July at the Canberra Irish Club.

This is a unique event in Canberra, showcasing the fun, sequin studded and cheeky side of burlesque. A show not to be missed!
