Inner south dining, Thai-riffic

It is on one of Canberra’s first subzero nights of the year that we visit the Manuka restaurant, Baan Latsamy. Baan Latsamy translates to ‘Latsamy’s home’; after co-owner and Lao Head Chef, Latsamy Phimthravitchith.

On this chilly night, we are only too pleased to enter Latsamy’s welcoming restaurant, and are excited to sample her authentic and warming Lao and Thai food.

This long weekend, Sunday 13 June, come down to Transit Bar for Party by Jake: A Royal Affair, featuring Mingle DJs. The evening kicks off at 8pm with free entry and loads of giveaways.

Like all Party by Jake events, fashion and music join forces with street label ‘Aviary’ on show this evening. One of Canberra’s newest additions, Aviary is a Canberra based independent clothing label. From hand drawn designs, local founder Andy Gallagher screen-prints guys and girls t-shirts, hoodies and sweats. Inspired by a passion for birds, Aviary is colourful, fun and fresh.

Winter Reds @ Pankhurst Wines

Pankhurt Wines is celebrating June with the release of new winter reds for tasting and sales. Both Gold Medal winners 2006 Cabernet Sauvignon and 2008 Sangiovese (a savoury Italian style) will be available, launching on the 5th and 6th of June.

There’s no better way to spend your cold winter weekends than with the warm and friendly staff at Pankhurt Wines. Enjoy the relaxed atmosphere, appreciate the surroundings and indulge with winter reds.
