Transforming the skies above Lake Burley Griffin into a spectacular canvas of light using 600 drones, the award-winning FLIGHT: Drone SkyShow + Night Markets are returning to Canberra this weekend.

Over three nights during the Australia Day weekend (24 to 26 January), each SkyShow will bring new 3D designs, immersive music and themes, bringing to life the pride, ingenuity and heart of Australia.

Honouring the past and lighting the way for future generations, the show will begin with a tribute to our Indigenous heritage, featuring the land’s original custodians, including the totem Maliyan, a powerful symbol of leadership and renewal.

“FLIGHT: Drone SkyShow + Night Markets 2024 recently took out the Major Festival and Events Award at the Canberra Region Tourism Awards. It was a wonderful recognition, so it feels right to bring this remarkable event back to the people and visitors of our National Capital,” says National Capital Authority Chief Executive, Karen Doran.

With Commonwealth Place and Regatta Point as the best viewing points, the vibrant night markets will also return to both hubs from 5pm each evening. Including delicious multicultural food options such as Spanish paella, Turkish Gozleme, African curries and Italian pizza. Lion and dragon performers, samba dancers and magicians will also be roaming around the markets while you wait for the main show to begin once the sun goes down.

Made possible through the support of the National Capital Authority and the National Australia Day Council, watch the perfect tribute to our amazing country.

FLIGHT: Drone SkyShow will light up the sky twice each night, with performances at 9pm and 10pm. Meanwhile, the night markets will be open from 5-10pm.

The event is free, but you can stay updated on new event details by registering your interest via Eventbrite.
