As part of Canberra’s annual Enlighten Festival, Ballyhoo is transforming its dining room into an immersive art space in partnership with a local artist.
Tommy Balogh, known for his large-scale, light-reactive installations, will showcase a curated selection of his works that will change from day to night.
Presented across various mediums, including canvas and Plexiglass, Balogh will showcase seven original artworks.
“This is a first for me—displaying my artworks amongst diners in a restaurant—I think it’s pretty wild,” says Balogh.
“By day, the artworks glow with vibrant luminosity, and by night diners will watch as the artworks transform under specialist light to reveal new dimensions, colours, and forms,” he says.
Balogh’s previous collaborations span from local brands, including the National Gallery of Australia, National Portrait Gallery and Questacon, to global institutions such as VIVID International and Artoze Dubai.
Located at the heart of the Enlighten Festival, Ballyhoo offers the perfect setting for Enlighten’s vibrant celebration of light, creativity, and community.
“We aim to bring vibrancy to the Triangle, to augment the dining experience. In today’s climate, serving great food isn’t always enough—diners are seeking more value for their dollar, and that’s exactly what we’re delivering,” says Director of Marketing and Events at The Lawns, Amber Maddigan.
To experience Tommy Balogh’s immersive artworks, simply reserve a table from Tuesday to Saturday evenings at Ballyhoo during Enlighten from 28 February to 10 March.
