A somewhat hidden New York-inspired bar with a healthy obsession for top-notch whisky and a slick cocktail list that is guided by the seasons, Volstead Repeal took home three accolades at the Australian Bartender Magazine Bar Awards this year.
For the second year in a row, they were awarded as one of ACT’s Best Cocktail Bars, as well as scoring a place as a finalist in the country’s Cocktail List of the Year awards and Whisky Bar of the Year.

An ode to the years that followed the Repeal of the Volstead Act in the US, which prohibited the production and sale of alcohol, Volstead specialises in all things whisky, cocktails and pizza.

An impressive start, in Volstead’s first year of business their niche within Canberra’s nightlife was recognised, taking home an award at The Local Business Awards for Outstanding New Business, and being nominated for Youth of the Year in 2022.
This year, owners also opened another venue in Braddon, western-themed bar The Peacemaker Saloon.
