Continuing their tradition of seasonal celebrations, Ginninderry have just announced the inaugural Summerfest, to be held at The Link on Saturday 24 February, from 5:30pm.
Following on from the hugely successful Winterfest and Springfest, this family-friendly celebration of summer will feature a range of musicians, dancers and theatre performers from local community groups and artists.
Among the performers are Canberra-based singer-songwriter Simone Penkethman, Ben Drysdale’s Band, Play the Dance Agency, Collective Theatre and With One Voice Ginninderry Choir.
Local café Two Before Ten will be providing a range of tasty treats to purchase, and you’re more than welcome to bring a picnic rug and hamper to enjoy while you watch the performances. Due to licensing restrictions, BYO alcohol is not permitted but can be purchased at the event.
Ginninderry’s Community and Cultural Planning Manager, Susan Davis, is hopeful that the evening will provide an opportunity for locals to mingle, while also raising money for a very important cause.
“Summerfest is not only a celebration of local talent, but an opportunity for people to pack a picnic, bring the family, relax and enjoy our beautiful surroundings here at The Link,” said Susan. “What also makes this event so unique is that all proceeds from Summerfest will go towards supporting cancer patients in the ACT.”
Tickets to Summerfest can be purchased online or on the evening. Entry is $5 per person, or $15 for families of four. Children under five are free. Summerfest will be held at The Link, 90 Stockdill Drive, Holt.
