The Canberra Nara Candle Festival is back for another year to celebrate the 27th anniversary of the Canberra Nara Sister City relationship, but not as you’ve previously seen it.
Unfortunately, the usual candle display that beautifully lights up Lennox Gardens is unable to go ahead this year, however there are still plenty of ways to get involved in this year’s festival.
Kicking off on Thursday 22 October until Sunday 25 October the festival is introducing Itadakimasu: The Canberra Nara Foodie Weekend and will be offering a range of Japanese inspired activities to take part in and an opportunity to dine out on delicious foods.
Meaning ‘let’s eat!’ in Japanese, Itadakimasu gives you the chance to experience our Sister City’s culture and mouth-watering foods by candlelight, from over 20 participating restaurants. From fine dining degustations at RAKU and Lazy Su to sashimi takeaway and green tea ice cream at Baby Su and Super Bao, there are many flavours to indulge in, maybe even for the very first time.
For those opting for takeaway there is also the option to enjoy a picnic in the surrounds of the Canberra Nara Peace Park and an opportunity to strike the Rotary Peace Bell from 11am to 3pm on Saturday 24 and Sunday 25 October.
