For some couples, wine and a good movie on the couch is an unbeatable date night. Some enjoy a brisk walk and a morning coffee date. And others enjoy getting into whatever fun, and often ridiculous, experiences are at their disposal. If sharing an experience with your sweetheart is what gives you the heart eyes, check out these fun activities to get into this #LovedUpMonth!

Paint your partner at Pinot and Picasso

Paint and sip has taken us by storm, and what better way to have a laugh with your significant other than getting a bit tipsy and trying to paint them? Pinot and Picasso Belconnen are doing two fun-filled Loved Up Month-esque sessions. Join ‘Superhero Sweethearts’ on the 12th of February and paint your partner as the superhero they are to you. Or on the 14th, you can paint your boo with the ‘Aura Edition’ as you work your way through fun conversation starters and an aura colour guide. Bring your bevvy of choice, some snacks and a can-do attitude, and head home with a one-of-a-kind Valentine’s Day gift and a serious case of the giggles.

Dinner and an outdoor movie at Hotel Kurrajong

Taken straight out of a romance flick, Hotel Kurrajong Valentine’s Day event is perfect for those couples who finish a dinner date and ask themselves ‘what next!?’ The evening starts with a romantic 4-course dinner and a bottle of sparkling wine followed by an outdoor courtyard movie showing of ‘When Harry met Sally’. Snacking on popcorn, sipping cocktails and cozying up next to your partner under the stars is true dream-date material.

 Latin Tuesdays at Highball

Valentine’s Day happens to fall on a Tuesday this year, and although a weekend would’ve been delightful, all is forgiven with Latin Tuesdays at Highball. Slip on your dancing shoes, sway those hips and join their free salsa dancing classes from 6:30pm every Tuesday. The instructors are playful, fun and a little bit silly, taking things nice and easy for those that have two left feet (me). If by the end of the free session you’re only just getting into the swing of things, you can also pay to join the social dancing class from 8 pm.

Couples massage at Hale Health

Sometimes being the best partner in the world can be hard work… so why not treat yourself (and your amour of course) to a couples massage? Escape to a place of complete indulgence and relaxation, leaving you in a state of bliss and rejuvenation. In the heart of Barton you’ll find Hale Health. Their ‘couples’ package’ begins with a bath filled with a blend of divinely scented moisturises and aromatherapy oils, followed by a 45-minute massage before an express radiance facial. After your treatment, continue to unwind in the client lounge with complimentary sparkling wine and chocolate. Need we say more?

Screening of Her at Palace Electric

Sparks will be flying at Palace Electric cinema showing the academy award-winning ‘Her’ on Valentine’s Day. Get comfy and enjoy the modern love story with your partner after enjoying a glass of prosecco on arrival. Conveniently located within the Nishi Building, afterwards head upstairs and pop your head into Monster Kitchen and Bar for some fabulously flirty bespoke cocktails.

Jazz night at Molly

From first dates to lifelong lovers, spend Valentine’s Day at Molly for an evening of food, cocktails and jazz by candlelight. In the discrete, intimate and glamorous speak-easy, enjoy a night of each other’s company with a dash of charming jazz. Doors open at 4 pm and The Con Campbell Trio will be playing from 7:30 pm- 10:30 pm. With free entry all night, come for a meal or simply pop in after your dinner date.

Games night at Kingpin

Kingpin is the home of a good time and is the reigning champion of OutInCanberra’s favourite entertainment venue award. With over 100 arcade games, a bowling alley, table tennis, karaoke rooms and a decked-out bar… don’t be surprised if you get flashbacks to the nerves of your first arcade date in the 80’s. Expect an evening of laughs, teamwork and a dash of healthy competitiveness… because whoever said games were just for kids? They’re also open until 10 pm (until 12 am Friday and Saturday), so it’s a great destination for before or after dinner in the city. Brownie points if you win them the biggest and fluffiest toy.

If a sit-down dinner date is more of your love language, then check out where to eat your heart out this Valentines Day.
