Locale Pizzeria is a hidden gem tucked away in the inner south of Canberra, offering authentic and honest Italian cuisine, which you can enjoy in the inviting atmosphere of the Deakin shops. Bringing a traditional Italian experience to Deakin, its chefs and pizzaiolo have created a smart yet simple menu using locally sourced ingredients and featuring hand-made pasta and pizza cooked in the wood fired oven with lots of care and love.
23 Lonsdale Street, Braddon
This relaxed and casual pizza shop is basically a take away joint with a few tables and chairs outside. It’s basic and straightforward and serves incredible, tasty pizzas (and is conveniently located right next door to the bottle shop.) The pizzas have a nice thin base made from fresh house-made dough. The small shop features an impressive wood-fired oven where you can see your pizza go in and come out in five minutes. Whether you call ahead and take your pizza away or sit down and enjoy it amongst the bustling atmosphere of Lonsdale Street, it’ll always taste just as good.

Located at the far end of the Kingston Foreshore, Molto Italian is the perfect combination of modern and traditional Italian cuisine. The restaurant is a celebration of classic Italian food and culture with a modern finesse, all set against the picturesque backdrop of Lake Burley Griffin. The menu features hand cut pastas, wood-fired pizzas and an extensive stuzzichini menu designed to share.
50 Bunda Street, Civic
Boasting a menu with something to please everyone, guests can choose from wood-fired Napoli-style pizza, a range of delicious small share plates and handmade pastas. The wood-fired pizza dough is lovingly made in-house daily, and accompanied by simple, fresh ingredients – it’s this philosophy that sets Provini’s food standard incredibly high.

This authentic Italian pizza joint located in the Hamlet has an extensive menu where you can customise your own pizza by choosing from a long list of ingredients. The casual atmosphere of the Hamlet is a great place to go with the whole family, or a big group of friends, surrounded by other food vendors and fun music. The pizzas are prepared and cooked in the wood-fired oven right in front of you within a few minutes.

The family-run business has operated for nearly 25 years, previously located at the Kingston shops. Now situated along the exciting Kingston Foreshore, La Rustica offers stunning panoramic views of Lake Burley Griffin. Enjoy the authentic Italian menu, extensive wine list and enormous desserts in a comfortable and warm setting, similar to that of a happy Italian family home.

All aspects of pizza making are done by hand at Pizza Artigiana, incorporating traditional Italian methods. All the ingredients are sourced daily and crafted together. It is an experience that is on display for the customers, where you can watch the Pizzaiolo do their thing. Their high heat woo- fire oven and slightly fermented dough will let you appreciate Neapolitan pizza as it should be.
