Thanks to the NSW Government’s Eat More Seafood Program, on Wednesday 9 August join Oyster Farmers Greg Carton and Sue McIntyre from Broadwater Oysters at Dear Prudence in Civic. Let them transport your taste buds to the nearby Sapphire Coast region that grows some of the most awarded Sydney Rock Oysters in Australia and is home to the Sapphire Coast Oyster Trail. They will be hosting two events, including ‘Shuck Yourself’ lunch sessions and ‘Meet the Farmer’ evening sessions.

Lunch Sessions – Shuck Yourself $45

– 45min, only 25 places per session

– 1 dozen oysters and selected toppings

– 11:30am or 1:00pm

Get the skills to shuck 3-year-old native Australian Sydney Rock Oysters with expert advice from the Broadwater Oysters team and delicious oysters from Pambula Lake. You will be shown the best tips for handling, storing and shucking delicious Sydney Rock Oysters… it is not as hard as you think! Be amazed by the flavour difference when you shuck your own Sydney Rock Oysters.

Evening Sessions – Meet the Farmer $80

– 45min, only 25 places per session

– 1 dozen oysters, selected toppings, cheese board, complimentary paired beverage

– 4:30pm, 6:00pm or 7:30pm

Sure you love a good oyster but have heard the story behind the perfect slurp straight from the farmer? Broadwater Oysters owners Greg Carton and Sue McIntyre will take you on a farming journey that spans 26 years as you taste their award-winning produce from Pambula Lake NSW. In this tasty, fun and hands-on session, you will also call on your inner-hunter-gatherer instincts and learn to shuck your own fresh oysters. You will be amazed at the flavour difference as you savour the ‘merroir’ that can only be created from the pristine waters of Pambula Lake. Arrive early at the bar to soak up the atmosphere and order your complimentary beverage from the bar. Sue’s recommendation for the perfect pairing includes a dry sparkling wine, rich Verdelho, crisp Pilsner, Mello Amber Ale or even a chocolate Stout.
