For the first time ever, marie claire Fashion & Beauty Night is coming to Canberra Centre. The night of fashion and beauty will be kicking off from 6pm this Friday 5 April, boasting a number of workshops, gifts, prizes and entertainment for anyone looking to up their style game. The team of fashion experts will be answering your styling and beauty questions, providing tailored advice and tips on upcoming trends.
The entire centre will celebrate the marie claire team in town with up to 40 exclusive retailer offers happening centre-wide. Think Champagne bar, beauty bar, donut wall and live entertainment just to name a few of the ones we are most looking forward to! The one-night-only event will be full of exclusive discounts from fashion, beauty and lifestyle retailers across Canberra Centre. The marie claire team will be hosting two styling workshops and guiding you through one of the biggest fashion retail event to come to the capital.
Two workshops will be held on the night coving everything you need to know on how to stay warm but look hot this winter. We got a head start on all the questions we can’t wait to have answered by the experts:
In the freezing Canberra cold, how can we rug up AND look stylish?
Invest in great outer wear – Living in Sydney I don’t have much of a need for it but I’ve learnt from travelling to Milan and Paris for the shows over the years that as long as I had a great coat my look was always finished and polished. Also, a great bag with a pop of colour can also lift your look in the colder months and lastly a mid-heeled, wear everywhere boot is a must.
What timeless staples does every woman need in her wardrobe?
A perfect pair of jeans is a regular update is essential to keep your look fresh. This season I am loving a high waisted, wide leg style.
A great trench coat – buy one once and it will be your friend forever. They never go out of style.
A pair of bold earrings – these will take your look from day to night in minutes.
A perfectly cut t shirt or cotton shirt. These are the underpinnings to your wardrobe.
What accessory could you not live without?
I live in flats from day to day so I have quite a few styles that I rely on. Whether it is my new square toe ballet flats, loafers or day wear trainers – I cannot live without them.

Hosted by marie claire Editor Nicky Briger, this workshop will chat with the marie claire fashion experts about the pieces that they are LOVING at the moment, and where to buy them at Canberra Centre! Jana Pokorny, marie claire fashion director, will talk through how tailoring and trench coats are your must own wardrobe classics. Monica Russell, marie claire Market Editor, will show you how to wear romance and femininity for all occasions, and Chloe Buttenshaw, marie claire Senior Fashion Editor, will show you how she nails minimalism and simplicity in her wardrobe, and the key tips to make this look work for you!

Gone are the days where workwear was strictly corporate suiting; these days there is plenty of space for fashion flare and injecting your personality into your office outfits and boy have we got you sorted! marie claire Fashion Director Jana Pokorny & marie claire Beauty Director Sally Hunwick, will join editor Nicky Briger on stage for a fashion and beauty workshop. This styling session will show you how to dress for your working day, and give you tips on how to elevate your look for the evening. We will talk through trending beauty with tips and tricks to create a beautiful daytime makeup look and show you how this can updated to take you into the evening. We will share current season fashion and beauty trends from the runway and show you how you can build these into your everyday style!
