More than 7000 punters, fluoro clad and draped in the shelter of garbage bags, dumped their inhibitions and umbrellas at the door as they entered the lake-side domain to the sounds of Muscles, Midnight Juggernauts, Sneaky Sound System and more.
The rain clouds may have deceived, but Foreshore music festival celebrated the first day of summer with massive dance acts powering out tunes, rain, hail, but no shine, until 11pm.
Canberra’s scenic Commonwealth place, Barton, was the location for the fest, with the state of the art super stage backing on to Lake Burley Griffin, and views of the monstrous Parliament house across the lake.
OutInCanberra’s exclusive VIP area offered shelter to their select few and unmatchable views of the mud-bath.
As the day powered on, the rain eased and the ‘what was grassy slopes’ turned to deep mud. But nothing could hinder the excitement of the crowd, which doubled in size before you could say ‘Fedde Le Grand.’
Melbourne talent and Triple J favourite, Muscles, had the crowd singing about ice-cream in torrential rain, while Switch brang his DJ hugging sounds all the way from the UK.
The rain was finally dried up by the psychedelic sounds of Midnight Juggernauts, while headliner, Sneaky Sound System’s Miss Connie enchanted the now dry, but still muddy thousands with party anthems.
Academy Club was home to the official after party, where muddy legs, broken Havaianas, exhausted bodies and fluoro turned dirt-coloured tanks united in a big finish to a big day.
