Parliament House’s much loved restaurant and caterer, the Ginger Room made a splash last week at the prestigious Restaurant & Catering Association Awards for Excellence. The hotly contested awards were presented at a black tie dinner at Parliament House in Canberra, with over 400 members of the restaurant and catering industry present.
The award winning team at the Ginger Room added to their already stellar record of successes by taking home ‘Best fine dining restaurant,’ ‘Best wine list’, ‘Best wedding caterer in a function centre’ and the major title, ‘Caterer of the year,’ for the third year in a row.
Restaurant & Catering president Con Castrisos congratulated Ginger Room for winning against such a high calibre of competitors and in an award with such a rigorous judging system.
James Musilions’ Courgette won the much deserved honour of ‘Restaurant of the Year ACT,’ while the Terrace Restaurant in Thredbo was presented with ‘Restaurant of the Year Southern NSW.’
The judges positively commented on both restaurants – Courgette in the heart of Canberra’s city and the Terrace Restaurant in a more relaxed casual atmosphere, as part of the Denman Mountain Inn Resort in Thredbo.
Other major award winners included Le Rendezvous, Manuka (Family Restaurant), Ruchi Indian Restaurant, Belconnen (Indian Restaurant), Mezzalira (Italian Restaurant), Alto Tower Restaurant, Acton (New Restaurant), The Haig, Braddon (Restaurant in a Hotel), National Press Club, Barton (Restaurant in a Pub/Club), Banana Leaf, Canberra City (Speciality Restaurant), Charcoal Grill Restaurant, Canberra City (Steak Restaurant- honourable mention) bsp;
The team at OutInCanberra congratulate all the venues who participated in the RCA Awards and those who were acknowledged by the association for their hard work.
