Following an out-of-the-blue post on Facebook teasing us with the potential reopening of the iconic bar, it seems as though Shorty’s might be coming back to the capital.

After closing back in 2020, last week the team posted “1 like and we’ll get the band back together.” Over 500 likes and 160+ comments later, they commented on the post responding, “See you in September.”

Since then, they have announced Shorty’s will be returning for five days from 10-14 September. Wondering where? Well, they are hijacking Wakefield’s Bar & Wine in Ainslie and are resurrecting all the Shorty’s favourites, including their famous deep-fried Golden Gaytimes, classic crinkle cut chips with Shorty’s seasoning, crispy honey duck wings, Crunk Cooler jugs, and all of their ‘offensively named’ shots.

Ready to serve up some serious nostalgia, they will also be rolling back OG deals and prices throughout the week, including Tuesday $15 schnittys or parmys, Wednesday $15 steaks, and Thursday $15 burgers.

Topping it off with DJs on deck Friday and Saturday night, it will be just like the good old days. Plus, in the lead-up, they will also be running votes on their socials on what other favourites they should bring back.

While they aren’t back for good just yet, Shorty’s has hinted at a possible permanent reopening, so stay tuned!

Bookings for the ‘Shorty’s Hijack’ are now available via Wakefield’s website, keep up to date with the latest via Shorty’s Facebook.
