The Garden Bar at The Mawson Club is back… with a revamp and refresh just in time for summer! The timber frames, cascading water feature and green plants evoke an idyllic garden oasis vibe. Add some live music and it’s almost like you’re on an island-style holiday. With a brand new cocktail menu and Sunday grazing menu, if you’re on the Southside, this is the perfect place for a chilled-out Sunday sesh.
Indecisive eaters will love how food is served here. Menu items come in miniature sizes so you can try everything! The Trio of Sliders comes with a pulled pork slider with celeriac slaw. The smoky barbecue flavour of the pulled pork is spot on. There’s a beef slider with cheddar, mustard and pickles and the last slider is salmon with dill potato salad. The Trio of Mini Soft Flatbread Tacos features crispy pork belly, which catches the right balance of salty and sweet. The lamb kofta and roast eggplant is a taco with a Middle Eastern twist and the roast vegetable flatbread taco with pesto aioli is a great vegetarian option.
Those who are more carb conscious can try the range of tapas including Pancetta Wrapped Haloumi and Salt and Pepper Squid. The Potato Spun Prawns are delightfully crunchy on the outside and the citrus aioli provides a creamy accompaniment.
What’s a Sunday sesh without the drinks? A Sydney cocktail expert was brought in to develop the new cocktail menu. There’s something for everyone as there are rum-based cocktails (like the Raspberry Colada), tequila-based cocktails (Le Presidente Margarita), and vodka-based cocktails such as the Ping Pong, Emerald, Joie de Vivre. The Rose Porteous, a watermelon cocktail is superb in its simplicity.
The piece de résistance is the Garden Bar High Tea. Inspired by summer, this sharing cocktail doesn’t actually contain any tea, rather it’s a combination of Tanqueray Gin, Chambord, St Germain Elderflower liqueur, burnt orange syrup, cranberry juice and ginger beer.
Staff have been trained well on how to make these new cocktails and provide sleek and fast-paced service so guests can relax and not have to worry about a thing.
It’s easy to see why The Garden Bar was busy on a spring afternoon. With cruisy beats, a new drinks menu and a variety of food on offer – there’s something for everyone at this casual-but-sophisticated venue.
The Sunday Grazing Menu is available from midday until 5.00pm, with live music on Sunday from 2.00pm – 5.00pm.
