Bursting with a variety of collectable items The Canberra Antiques Centre includes everything from antique jewellery, brooches, glassware, art, vintage tins, records, coins, military medals and silver from brands including Royal Doulton, Wedgwood fine China and Carlton Ware pottery. Generating most of their items from locals looking to pass on their treasures, The Auction Barn has a team of specialists who are passionate about unique objects and their history.
“The primary source of stock seen in our showrooms comes from Canberra homes. We sell on behalf of others and a big goal of the company is to rehome as many antiques and collectables as possible, so many rare and beautiful objects wind up destroyed these days. We also aim to reduce what is put into landfill,” says Store Manager, Simone Jordan.
“We believe having sufficient knowledge of the history of the products is extremely important, and it helps us serve our customers better. One of our core business objectives is ‘The successful transition of goods, from Vendor to Buyer,’” she says
The perfect place for both beginner buyers and seasoned bidders, The Auction Barn offers weekly curated antique auctions, general great value auctions and specialist sales. Held online, the auction process is easy, with a simple bidding registration and a starting price of $12 for our General Goods auction and $20 for the Antiques and Collectables.
While, if you’re purchasing within the retail space, you can choose to shop in-store or pre-purchase via their socials for pick-up or post.
“Our socials are filled with goodies from the space, and if you see something you like, we encourage people to give us a call for more info. We can post or suggest a courier where needed. We wouldn’t want someone to miss out on something they may have been hunting for. We also have a dream list – If there is something you are hunting for let us know we will ask around or keep a lookout,” says Simone. “For those selling, simply call the team for a valuation.”
