What makes an excellent bottleshop? Is it the range they stock, the quality of their product or the ability of the staff to make an excellent recommendation? Because there’s nothing quite like the thrill of discovering a new favourite wine or beer, we’ve rounded up our favourite local independent bottleshops that tick all the above.

Happy tasting!

Ainslie Cellars

7 Edgar St, Ainslie

On one hand you can get your lips on all types of wines from the depths of South Italy, and on the flip side the love for local at this store is even more prominent than their extensive exotic offerings. Ainslie Cellars were one of the first to promote Canberra as a competitive wine making district, and their views have only grown stronger – with equal support for local breweries and distilleries. If you’re popping in for groceries next door, be sure to stop by the Cellars, chances are they’ll be having a free wine tasting. The winemakers visit often and together the team work to enthuse shoppers to try something new. The store is family owned and operated, and the staff are incredibly savvy, as they themselves have taken to the vineyards to learn the ropes of winemaking. Oh, and they deliver!
