Change of season can be overwhelming for the average shopper, with style overhaul happening in every shop from street to high, you’re current wardrobe can begin to look like an unimpressive portal into last season before you can say ‘faux pas.’
Canberra’s high fashion boutique Momento Dezigns consistently offer high-style sliced and diced and ready to wear with fashionable advice.
So who better to give you style advice before you even leave the house? OIC talk to Momento about winter trends so you can get shopping, buying and styling with insider- confidence.
OIC: What’s new on this style scene this winter?
Momento: Prints dominate this season, especially among the dress ranges, whether they are ethnic inspired or block geometric.
This trend feature heavily in top designers collections such as Zimmermann, Miss Sixty (Italy) and Shakuhatchi. While the master of draping silk dresses, Willow, has again outshone the competition by dominating with this stunning look!
OIC: What trends are worth investing in?
Momento: The leather jacket!!!! Everyone should be investing in a good quality classic jacket with cropped sleeves, short bodies or hoods. Black and chocolate as well as non traditional colours such as bronze, bottle green and silver have all been used by Samvara and White Suede who have created our favourite leather jackets this season!
OIC: Are high waists still big?
Momento: High waisted skirts and pants are as fashionable as each other this season. Life With Bird and Alice McCall have created high waisted skirts to couple with strong military-style jackets. This high waisted look can also be layered with soft, oversized vintage knits in grey and hot pink finishing. To finish your look, go for the uber- trendy buckled ankle boot.
OIC: What’s new with coats?
Momento: The ‘always in season’ trenches are particularly popular this winter, especially the glamorous Mia Trench from Camilla and Marc.
A twist on the trench has become the new statement piece, with styles such as the oversized belted coat from Vallen and cropped sleeve and long tuxedo jackets from Nicola Finetti. Wear them with simple and colourful knits for the most impact.
OIC: Can we reinvent our summer dresses for autumn? How?
Momento: Summer dresses have the opportunity to continue making appearances this autumn/winter. Mix strong pieces like the very popular cropped leather jacket with floaty and feminine dresses from Summer and playful accessories like leather gloves or lace hosiery to add a punch of colour. This will reinvent that special summer dress for what is set to be the most popular look of the season!
