The National Multicultural Festival is once again set to send Canberra buzzing with the heart of Latin spice and the indulgence of international cuisines.
Scheduled to span from the 8th to the 17th February this 10 day festival promises the excitement of more than 100 events.
Expect comedy, performance art, food and wine stalls, street parties, live music, theatre, opera, dance and more, weaving together all the colourful communities that make up Australia, truly promising something for everyone.
Highlights include a rip-roaring street party in Dickson to welcome in the Year of the Rat at the Tradies Chinese New Year.
There are stunning Australian premiers from international acts including The Ghana Dance Ensemble, Nour Amal Blind Eye Orchestra from Egypt, Gospel Spectacular featuring the St James AME Mass Choir from New Jersey (USA), and the breathtaking Shaanxi Song and Dance Troupe from China.
2008 also marks the fifth birthday of National Multicultural Festival’s little sister, The Fringe Festival.
There’s a hot circus vibe in the new Civic Square big-top tent with Edinburgh Fringe 2007 award-winning Chenoeh Miller joining the team as artistic director. Expect everything from performance art to great live music.
