Two Before Ten Group has been working on a new project in Denman Prospect and it’s a little different to their other cafes.

A family-friendly gastro pub, The Denman Kitchen + Wine Bar is focused on delivering a nose-to-tail dining experience.

The latest venture to join the group’s 20+ venues scattered around Canberra, they have spent the last decade focussing on sustainable dining, starting from their Aranda urban farm.

However, The Denman will be taking it up a notch, with UK-born chef Robin Rea and Canberra’s James Miller at the helm.

“Rather than just using all the prime cuts, we’re using all the other parts of the animal. It’s effectively zero waste,” says Co-owner, Chris Dennis.

Approachable, sustainable and most importantly, delicious, the menu does of course have a selection of pub classics, but it also takes another direction with dishes such as goat rendang curry, miso red cabbage with sea-spiced eggplant and whipped tofu, and house-made mushroom gnocchi.

Their commitment to sustainability also continues to the beverage offering, with Two Before Ten coffee and more than 40 Canberra wineries and distilleries. On tap, you’ll find a range of The Kingston Brewing Company beers brewed especially for Aranda and Denman.

As an up-and-coming suburb in Canberra, Chris says they hope the new pub will positively service the local community.

“Denman is still a developing suburb, and we wanted to give the community a family-friendly eatery and café open for breakfast to dinner and everything in between – a hub for the community that’s open seven days a week,” he says.

Like any good pub, great value specials are running five nights a week, from Sunday ‘Family Day’ where children eat half price, to $25 Schnitty, Steak and Burger Nights including a drink.

“We want people to feel like they can drop in on the way home from work a few times a week because the food is approachable and affordable,” says Chris.

The Denman Kitchen + Wine Bar is open Sunday to Wednesday from 12pm-9pm and Thursday to Saturday from 12pm-10pm.
