I’m sure you all know the story of how Betti Bravo decided to leave Mr Bravo and embrace her independence and become Bad Betti. With a motto of “F**k roses I want rosé” which honestly if that isn’t a vibe right there I don’t know what is. Betti refreshed and refurbed her life and took on a low key chill attitude and the food at Bad Betti’s followed suit. A departure from neighbouring restaurants down on the Kingston Foreshore Betti boasts a delicious range of some of the best cocktails I have consumed all summer and great food for a cheat day.
Bad Tasty Burgers
Betti’s got beef: Smoked beef brisket, bacon, pineapple and lime salsa, butter lettuce and smoked beetroot chutney. While the brisket is a little tricky to keep on the bun, make sure you have your napkin handy. The flavour combinations are undeniably mouth-watering. The pineapple and lime salsa is so good you could eat it on its own and the side of beer battered chips are an Aussie summer classic.
Jerk on buns: Grilled jerk chicken thigh, pickled ginger and cabbage slaw, agave and buttermilk dressing. I know it sounds unlike any chicken burger you’ve ever heard of but it tastes that way too. The chicken was juicy and succulent and the pickled ginger kicks the burger a real kick. Served with a side of sweet potato fires to balance of the pallet. The sweet potato fries deserve a mention all their own. Cooked to perfection, they were crunchy on the outside without being burnt and still soft in the centre.
Bad Betti Cocktails
Yu Snooze Yu looze: A delicious little treat comprised of dark rum, pineapple, lime and mint. Great for those who enjoy cocktails but don’t like anything overly sweet.
Bad Gal Bibi: My personal favourite is another rum based concoction this time with spiced rum lime, lemon, passionfruit. Fruity but the spiced rum balances out the passionfruit and offers a great taste combination that goes down very easily.
It seems as though Betti’s living her best life away from Mr Bravo. A great new cocktail menu I’d recommend trying every option listed and drink specials if you’re more of a beer guy. Delicious burgers and chicken perfectly suited for a Sunday sesh with the boys. Dining al fresco down by the foreshore was never more easy than relaxing outside at Bad Betti’s.
