Chula is a vibrant Spanish label created by Laura Fontan and architect, Diego Cortizas.
Having established themselves in 2004, the creative duo developed a line of clothing that connects the colourful world of Spanish design with both hand sewing and embroidery techniques, and the richness of Asian fabrics.
Chula’s approach is to produce its dresses- all individually handmade- as limited editions, and seek to create exclusivity by varying their colour, embroidery and geometric designs.
Handcrafted with 100% silk, each design is produced in limited quantity to ensure that each piece is a work of art.
Borrowing conceptual inspiration from architecture, photography and the graphic arts, Chula infuses radical ideas onto simple silhouettes. Season after season, Chula clothes do not follow the tyranny of trendy fashion, but prefer to set its own unique tempo apart.
Who then is a Chula woman? An artistic, authentic, exuberant individual and a true connoisseur of all things special.
This rings true for Barack Obama’s wife Michelle, who loves the label for its wit and originality.
Chula produce their line exclusively in Australian sizes for our very own Canberra boutique, Sybil’s Closet.
