If you’re in the Canberra property market and are trying to find the best neighbourhood and suburb to suit your lifestyle, why not trust Canberra’s leading real estate professionals at The Agency. Not only can the team give you advice on the stand-out properties you should look out for, but as locals themselves, they can tell you the best highlights of the area.

Led by The Agency, The Neighbourhood Series will take you through various suburbs in Canberra, showing you the best places to eat, drink and play, incredible property developments or listings to put on your radar and a little note from one of their agents that live in the area.

This week, we are putting a spotlight on the Inner North.

EAT, DRINK & PLAY

Edgar’s Inn

Ainslie’s local pub Edgar’s Inn is one of the Inner North’s best pubs tucked away from the city. Open from 7am daily, it serves as local’s morning coffee and takeaway brekky, lunchtime catch up and relaxed dinner inside or in the beer garden. On the menu, you’ll find all the classics, some very tempting specials and pizzas from their next-door sister restaurant Mama Dough. There’s also great weekly live music, trivia night and meal specials.

Ainslie Shops

If you live close enough to call it your local, you’re pretty lucky to have Ainslie Shops providing you with a great supermarket, restaurants, cafes, pharmacy and so much more. Talked as one of Canberra’s best supermarkets, the Ainslie IGA is great for everything from your weekly shop and last-minute grabs, down to a delectable cheese pick up from their imported French cheese selection. You can also find every level of dining from the Ainslie Bakehouse’s fresh baked goods and coffee takeaway, the Breizh Café and Edgar’s Inn, to wood-fired Italian style pizzas from Mama Dough, bistro dining from The Inn and a degustation dining experience at Pilot.

Next Gen Canberra

Health and lifestyle club Next Gen Canberra is the ultimate fitness facility for those who live in the Inner North. Offering everything from functional training facilities, indoor and outdoor pools, tennis courts, sauna, spa and steam room, expert trainers and luxury amenities, they have something for you, no matter what fitness level or interest.

Scooter to the city

Need to get into the city quickly without the hassle of finding a park? The introduction of electric scooters has been well-received by locals in the Inner North. A great way of getting around the city, with an easy app to get them started and the ability to drop them off wherever you like, it’s just one of the perks of city living.

PROPERTY LISTING: 1 BEDROOM STUDY APARTMENT IN WATSON

The Agency is currently selling a 1-bedroom study apartment in a brand-new apartment building of just 33 tucked away in the rear corner of the Norrebro precinct in Watson.

The apartment benefits from a north aspect, taking in trees, mountains and an abundance of light. Developed by the award-winning HTI, the apartments are surrounded by landscaped gardens, open spaces and playgrounds for children in a tranquil suburban setting at the foothills of Mt Majura and only 7.5km to the CBD.

High-end finishes throughout include Italian tiles in the living areas, quality carpet in bedrooms, full-height tiles and custom vanity in the bathroom, Smeg appliances, soft close drawers, and dual-head air-conditioning.

A NOTE FROM A LOCAL…

I love the Inner North for its arty and Bohemian feel. From the beautiful old homes and new developments, local cafes, recreation facilities and proximity to the city, it’s an unbeatable location. While I love everything living in Ainslie provides, Dickson and Downer and the redevelopment is also very exciting. From Gang Gang café at the Downer Shops, delicious Asian cuisine at Dickson’s Chinatown, including my favourite pho from Pho Puc, the huge oval where I can take my dogs and in walking distance to the light rail, it’s a great area of Canberra.
