Ten Little Figs – Reading and Treasure Hunt with Rhiân Williams – Saturday, 28 November
Rhiân Williams’ fantastic new book Ten Little Figs is a wonderfully written, captivating children’s book. Children aged 3+ will enjoy the rhyming and bubbly book. It’s always a fantastic experience to hear the author read their own book, which will be happening from 10am at Gorman Arts Centre this Saturday. There will be a treasure hunt following the reading. Flix ‘n Dickson – Saturday, 28 November
Lucy Sparkles and her team will be there to entertain you and your family from 6pm, this Saturday at Dickson Post Office Courtyard. It’s a chance to get out in the local community, grab some dinner from a local eatery to support the region, and enjoy some quality time. When the sun sets, there will be a showing of Paddington 2. Sweet and Sour Zine Issue 2 Launch Party – aMBUSH Gallery Kambri – Saturday, 28 November
Sweet and Sour, a local Canberra zine (locally run, self-published booklet – don’t worry, we looked “zine” up too) is celebrating the release of its second issue, this Saturday! There will be a DJ, live music, as well as a chance to meet the authors of the project. The zine celebrates on the art of Asian-Australian women, and there will even be a live painting session! All of this is free, all you have to do is book in. Get cracking before it is booked out!
Jazz Works – Saturday, 28 November
Calling all music buffs! Calling all those wanting to expand their musical horizons! Jazz Works is a live jazz concert, diving into the abstract through music. It will be hosted by three of Australia’s best jazz musicians and composers, Miroslav Bukovsky, Hugh Barrett, John Mackey and Brendan Clarke. The Drill Hall Gallery is the venue of choice, so be sure to bring your most inquisitive and open mind and enjoy what stands to be a challenging and thoroughly wonderful evening. Gin Master Class with The Canberra Distillery – Sunday, 29 November
In what is one of the most unique opportunities available in the Canberra region, The Canberra Distillery is running a Master Class out in Gunning, run by professional sommelier Freddie. There will be a lunch provided, followed by the chance to make your own gin! Freddie will take you through the steps of the gin-production process before you try your hand at making your own blend. Finish off the afternoon with a tasting of the range available at The Canberra Distillery, and then it’s time to trundle off back into Canberra. Places are limited but are available for purchase here.
